You Know When.... and What I am Loving Wednesday

Okay, let me start this post of with....

YOU KNOW YOUR HUSBAND TRUSTS YOU WHEN.........:

HE LETS YOU CUT HIS HAIR!!

Yup, last night M was complaining about how long his hair was. He had a board of directors meeting yesterday and went to gel his hair and it wouldn't stand up/style.. aka.. looked like crap! So of course I volunteered to cut it, after all I couldn't make it look worse.... worse than that one other time I cut it of course. Yup, he has let me do it before, a LONG time ago and yes, it gets better, I used kitchen scissors!! We were cottaging and needless to say, he wore his hat a lot that trip and got it fixed when we got home! He may have also said something along the lines of "NEVER AGAIN".... opps... I can only get better right?

Well my friends, after he agreed that I could do it, he then started adding rules, like no scissors. So I got out the dog clipper set I had bought years ago and then realized there were only 2 razor attachments in it! We searched for the others and then decided we would make do! I double triple checked that he was sure he wanted me to do this and then I added a rule of my own that went a little something like this " You cannot get mad at me if it looks bad and you cannot complain because after all, you wanted this".

So I did it and it is SHORT!! Not buzz cut short, but shorter than he likes! At first he thought I was cutting a military cut, but he let me finish up and I think it looks good! He says it looks good, but it is too short! I told him that he better find the other attachments! The only part that I may have screwed up on would be the bottom of his neck. I was focusing soo hard on making sure it was straight and then he would move and a little more would have to come off. It is definitely shorter than before and normally you wouldn't be able to tell, but he has a white streak because his tan doesn't go up that far from being away!! I blame it on him!

So ladies, if you ever wonder if your man trusts you, see if he will let you cut his hair!

I give M credit for letting me try again after the first mishap!!

Now on to What I Am Loving Wednesday!!

Head on over and link up with Jamie!

I am loving M for trusting me of course!

I am loving the comment M made this morning: "My hair is sooo short, my head is cold" and I told him " Put a hat on" and he walked around the house with a toque on for the rest of the morning!! His hair really isn't THAT short, he just needs to get used to it!!

I am loving the positive temperatures that are happening today!! I would also love it if they would stick around!!

I am loving that I am 72% finished my book according to my KOBO!! I borrowed the e-file from the library and only have until Saturday to finish!! This will be one of the quickest books I have read!

That is all I have for today because I have got to get back to work!!

Have a great Wednesday!!

Reflection #1

1.) I've Learned-
that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I suppose that I have learned half of this one. I believe that you have no control over love. You cannot make someone love you, but you also cannot stop someone from loving you. Love can overwhelm you.

M and I started dating way back in high school. We both went to college at the same time, having only been dating for 1 year, we were dreading long distance, as he was going 4 hours North and I was pretty much staying put. We were saying I love you by this point, but now looking back, I am not sure that we truly understood what we were saying. In fact, the first time he told me he loved me, it freaked me out and I just said it back to be nice. (We had only been together for 6 months before the big L word came out). I began to understand the meaning of love by the time he went away to school. It is true when they say that you don't know what you have got until it is gone! Not that M was gone per say, but it is when I really learned my true feelings for him. I honestly believe that when he said he loved me the first time he meant it and understood it, and I also think that is why it was soo hard on me when he left because I didn't quite understand love before. I didn't DO anything to MAKE him love me, and he didn't do anything to MAKE me love him. It just happened and for him it was sooner than later, whereas for me it all hit me at once, everything made sense, everything clicked.

When M left for college I was an emotional mess, because I felt stronger for him at that point then I had in my whole life (up to that point). I didn't understand where it came it from, it just hit me. You don't know when love is going to show up, you can't expect it. You can be open to it and you can accept it.

So what makes you lovable? You will never know, you could guess and you could be told, but deep down, I truly believe that it is not something you have any control of. Love isn't a decision, it is a feeling like none other. You don't decide how to love, it comes natural.

I can honestly say that even to this day, I do not know the full extent of just what exactly love is. I am still learning. Love still surprises me. I didn't know that my love would grow. I don't know the full meaning of unconditional love. I don't believe anyone does. Love will always mean something different to someone else. Love is powerful!!

I think I will spend my whole life trying to be someone who can be loved. I want to be able to embrace it as I receive it. I want to be that person that M will love forever, no matter what is happening in our life, good or bad. I think it is something everyone should strive for.

To this day, I love M more today than I did yesterday, it just keeps growing, I cannot control it and he can't stop me from loving him more. Tomorrow I will love him more than I did today!

I couldn't imagine life without love!

Reflection Series - I've Learned

I have been searching for something special to reflect on and Kelsey had posted just what I was looking for! (I am not sure where she found it, but I found the following on her blog!)
1.) I've Learned-
that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

2.) I've learned-
that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

3.) I've learned-
that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

4.) I've learned-
that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

5.) I've learned-
that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.

5.) I've learned-
that you should never ruin an apology with an excuse.

6.) I've learned-
that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something.

7.) I've learned-
that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do.

8.) I've learned-
that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

9.) I've learned-
that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

10.) I've learned-
that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

11.) I've learned-
that you can keep going long after you can't.

12.) I've learned-
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

13.) I've learned-
that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

14.) I've learned-
that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

15.) I've learned-
that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

16.) I've learned-
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

17.) I've learned-
that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

18.) I've learned-
that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

19.) I've learned-
that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

20.) I've learned-
that people will forget what you said, and people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

Of course I have not learned all of these things, but they are definitely things I should learn. It will take time and strength to learn them, so I figure I will reflect on each one every now and then! I will post "Reflections" under my banner and link up the posts! Feel free to reflect as well, as they come up!!

Oh and in case you forgot... my give-away is still open and will be ending tonight around 7-ish, so make sure you have entered!! Only about 20 entries soo far!! Check it out HERE!!

Thoughts On Thursday

Sorry for the late post today... I am working!! (since I was off yesterday due to the AWFUL, HORRIBLE weather that included SNOW... not bitter at all)!

So what is up on this Thursday?
  • I am working.
  • I am still enjoying my Spark People plan, I cannot say enough good things about this! I actually feel like I am in control and I am loving it! It has taught me what I am missing in my diet and gives me ideas on how to get them... like Potassium, I seriously lack Potassium!
  • I want to get back to walking outside, but the snow and ice are holding me back again!! I also found these workouts to try and they seem fairly simple, I might just complain about it later, but I am going to start off with the beginner training! Take a look at it here! Oh and wish me luck!
  • Today is the funeral of the 2 fallen firefighters. This breaks my heart. You can read my post about it HERE. Please stop and say a quick prayer for the family, friends and their community of these fallen heroes! This really hits home with M being a firefighter.
  • My Give Away is ending tomorrow, so please get your comments in! You can find the Give Away HERE!
  • Last night M and I crossed another item off of the Spring Cleaning To-Do list! We took an inventory of our freezer! I am hoping M will get the garage door opener finished this weekend and I am kind of happy that he held off on getting the patio furniture out, since we have snow again!

Well, that is all I have got for today!!

Remember, get your entry in for the Give Away! There is only 15 people entered so far!!

Have a great Thursday!!

So What Wednesday....

www.lifeafteridew.com

I am also linking up with Shannon today too!! So here it goes!!

So What If:
  • I ate a kit kat for breakfast and chips and dip for lunch... I have been drinking water all day... and I am still below my calorie intake goal!! This weather is depressing!
  • I considered buying this wig for my cat....

The cat looks just like Jazz and I think the color really suits her!! Maybe she would enjoy life more and would stop being sooooo bitchy! lol The thing that stopped me from buying it was that it costs $60... who would pay that for a cat wig!? Check it out here (picture is from there too)! They also have other colors!
  • I can't seem to understand why some people wouldn't sign up for something that is free and simple to enter... like my give away, unless they don't like my sister's jewelry, but let's be real... it is fantastic! So enter people, unless no one reads my blog and if that is the case it is kind of super insulting, I am trying to give back to you people!
  • I get excited when I get this in the mail:
House Home Photo April 2011 Fresh Style
via

and this:
this issue
via
  • they are making a movie down the street from my office at work and they have shut down streets and limos are all over the place! They are filming Silent Hill 2. I also learned that this happens often and that several movies have been filmed in Cambridge!
  • I was getting all excited about the nice weather we HAD been getting, to wake up to find snow, ice, freezing rain and wind and not just a little, but a lot. We just got rid of all our snow!!
  • I am not a fan of Kristi Alley, but I thought she did a great job on DWTS!! She might just make it after all!!
  • I had M go outside to dig out the driveway this morning, yes dig it out because we have that much snow, actually I told him to use the snow blower and he said "Ah no, I'll shovel it". While he was shoveling I phoned my boss to tell him I would definately be late, at which point he told me not to bother and that I could work tomorrow instead. Which I was secretly hoping he would do, and after M finished and was doing the side deck, I decided then would be a good time to inform him of snow day....  I could have told him sooner I suppose!?
  • I am trying to get into reading and feel pressured to finish a book that I loaned from the library on my Kobo in 2 weeks... 2 weeks is not a lot of time for a non-reader like myself to finish a book and it's not like I can return it late, it just disappears off my Kobo!
What are you saying So What to?

What I Am Loving Wednesday!

Well, I might just post more than once today... just a heads up!! I figured I would tag up with Jamie today and play along with What I Am Loving!!

Meet Me On Monday

Questions:1.  What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
2.  Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
3.  How many siblings do you have?
4.  Were you named after anyone?
5.  Coke or Pepsi?
Answers:

1. I wear my wedding bands and a necklace that M gave me for Christmas last year every day, 24/7.

2. I cut it all up first and then twirl it a bit. I also very rarely eat spaghetti sauce, just cheese and noodles usually!!

3. I have one sister and she has just started blogging, head on over and check her out, plus she posts cute pictures of H!!!

4. Not that I know of.

5. I don't like either.... in fact I don't drink any dark colored pop, except for Root Beer or Grape pop, but I very RARELY buy those!!

Manic Monday

Why does Monday always sneak up on me?

So today I am going to try something new, something I have never done for Mondays... I am going to add a linky at the bottom for you all to link up to, so I can read about your Manic Monday, which basically recaps your weekend and plans for today/the rest of the week.

So here it goes!!

My weekend was pretty much laid back!! In fact, I actually blogged this weekend!! If you missed them, you can find them HERE and HERE.

Friday night - M and I just relaxed.

Saturday - M and I started our Spring cleaning list, which was posted on Sunday. Actually Saturday's activities was posted on Sunday... I know, I threw off my manic Monday post by blogging spontaneously!! Sorry! Here is the link again!!

Sunday - M started working on the spring cleaning projects outside! He even found time to install my blue tooth visor in my car, among other projects!! He also started putting up the garage door opener!! Hence I said started, as in it is not finished. He was planning on going back out after dinner, but his fire pager had other plans! He had a chimney fire! So, by the time he got home, it was dark and he was exhausted!! Love my hero!! It is almost finished though!! While he was on the call, I took the girl's for a walk and worked on my blog.

You will notice the song list has been updated, as well as a few of my sidebars, like the book I am trying to read and total km walked!

So, let's here all about yours!!! Link Up Please!!

  • hang door bell
  • clean up the winter's worth of dog piles
  • get the patio furniture back out and wipe them down
  • tear down the gazebo that broke this winter
  • clean out hallway closet
  • re-organize dining room linen closet
  • wipe down leather couch
  • vacuum the other ones
  • clean bathrooms ceiling to floor
  • go through bathroom vanity in M's bath
  • go through closet
  • go through drawers
  • re-organize closets upstairs
  • organize the "toy room"
  • make access to back gate in yard
  • clean out cupboards - taking inventory of what we have
  • clean out freezer - taking inventory of what we have
  • wipe down the fridge, inside and out
  • wipe down microwave/clean fan
  • hem up curtains in great room
  • finish sorting out the basement
  • wash blankets
  • wash sleeping bags
  • wash old curtains before storing them
  • find pocket doors to hang in back basement
  • bath cats
  • clean winter coats
  • make spring wreath
  • go through kitchen storage containers and get rid of old ones.
  • spring clean memory cards by organizing them all by date on jump drive
Keep in mind, there are few things on there I do often, but they are due to be done again, so I added them!!

Yesterday while we were cleaning I switched up my dining room curtains, found a sweater I had wanted to return, but lost it, took the reindeer off the front lawn. We also came up with some ideas for some more renos we would like to do!! Guess who is hopefully getting a walk-in-closet? Oh THIS girl, who had gone without a bedroom closet since we moved here!! Hopefully it can be done, we have to have someone come in and see what supports what! I will post our upcoming plans soon... stay tuned!!

M and also joined Spark People to help track and manage our weight loss goals!! We also turned on the Wii Fit for the first time since moving here... sad I know, and as scared as we were for the weigh in, we have both lost weight!! M lost 3 pounds in 792 days and I lost 4.5pounds in 790 days!! I had actually lost more than that in the summer (15 to be exact), but gained some back... Here is to hoping we will stay a little more focused now!!

I think I will add a km tracker on my side bar to see how many kilometers I walk in a year!

Where is your spring cleaning list?!

Stop...Say A Prayer

I would like to take a minute or two and ask for everyone's prayers for the family, friends and communities of 2 volunteer firefighters who have lost their lives while on duty on Thursday!

Raymond Walter (30 years old) and Kenneth Rea (56 years old) lost their lives when a roof collapsed on them while they were in the burning building.

This hits home because as most of you know M is a volunteer firefighter and there is always the risk on a call. I will be hugging my own hero a little tighter. It is one of my biggest silent fears that I have, so I couldn't even imagine being the family of these brave heroes. May God give them the strength to get through this tough time and provide hope, courage and support to carry on without their hero.

You can read more about it here.

So I will leave you with the fire fighter's prayer, one that is well known in this household!!

Fire Fighter's Prayer

When I'm called to duty god
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife

Dear Aging Body

Dear Aging Body,

I would like to have a word with you regarding a few things that have come up lately.

I would like to remind you that you are in deed only 26 and this need for laziness needs to come to an end. I have got weight to lose, weddings to attend and a swimsuit to fit into. You need to step up to the plate and start acting your age, not that of an 80 year old. I have actually met 80 year olds with more energy that you.

I get that you hate winter, but you need to stop holding me back with that sad excuse of yours.

I would also appreciate it if you would stop making my skin look like that of a 14 year old. Even when I was 14 I did not have acne. You also need to speed up the healing process as well, I have noticed you have been slacking lately. I would also appreciate it if you would stop drying my skin out as well. I am beginning to see why my mother slaps moisturizer on like there is no tomorrow, how ever I am struggling with time and I am very low maintenance. I simply do not want to take the extra 5 minutes to lather you up. If you begin to smarten up, I will take a few extra minutes for you after my shower. You have to give a little to get a little.

On a high note, you have gotten somewhat over eczema, for this I am very proud of you!!! You have fought a long battle with this and I am proud to say that you have just about beat this.

You are pretty much leaving me no choice but to start pumping you full of vitamins. So be prepared for this please.

Also, please note that I will be exercising more frequently and I would really appreciate your support in this, by not making my body ache in sooo many ways for sooo long afterwards. After all you are 26... not 80 and there is nothing worse than walking around town with the 80 year olds outwalking you because you are acting up.

I will also be eating healthier. So if you feel like toning up those muscles and shedding some pounds, please feel free to!! Just saying....

Thanks,

Dear Healthy Food

Dear Healthy Food,

I am now taking a kick start to getting back into shape, which now includes watching what I eat. Have I mentioned how much this sucks?  I am not the biggest fan of veggies and you definitely won't find me hanging out with grain group anytime soon either!!

You are coming a long way! You know how you trick me with that whole wheat pasta and whole wheat white bread? Well, is there anyway you can trick me with chips? Because I am dying over here!! I love them!! The veggie chips are not my thing! I don't know what exactly it is about them, but they will be my toughest challenge. I know popcorn is a good substitute, but who really wants NO butter? I tried buying the flavour spray made with buttermilk and it is good, but are you really trying to tell me it is healthy? I would also like you to help a girl out with some chocolate and candy. They are like pringles... once you have one, you can't stop!!

How about salads, because over all salads are good for you, until you add the best, yet worst part - the dressing. I have been transitioning over to organic baby spinach and I am liking it soo far, but in small amounts.... baby steps. I only choose organic baby spinach because I find baby spinach tastes better than regular and I can only find it organic. Not that I am complaining about the organic factor, because really that is just one more step in the right direction.

All I am asking is that you work on the junk food supply!! Of course I am going to pick candy and chips over peanuts and yogurt... lets be real. I am just saying if you provided a similar alternative that was healthy, it would make this process a hell of a lot easier!!

Thanks,

Would You Rather.. Wednesday

I have thought of a new twist for Wednesday's blog session. It won't be an every Wednesday kinda thing because I like What's Up Wednesday and So What Wednesday too..

While in Chapters on Sunday, our friend M came across a book titled Would You Rather, which included things that are compared to one another in a would you rather fashion. There were quite a few funny ones, some inappropriate ones and some disgusting ones. I guess there are some board games out there too.

1) Would you rather forget to brush your hair or forget to put on deodorant on a hot summer day?
      - forget to brush my hair.... I have a thing about smelly people!

2) Would you rather walk on broken glass or hot fresh pavement?
      - these both sound equally painful, but I would choose broken glass. There is only a chance of cutting your feet vs. burning your whole foot.

3) Would you rather eat 6 plates of brownies or 6 bags of chips?
      - EASY! 6 bags of chips

4) Would you rather gain weight in you butt or your gut?
     - Hmmm, I think my butt, but only because mine is sooo boney now, it could use a bit and the gut is really hard to get rid of!

5) Would you rather have a migraine or the flu?
     - the flu, even though puking would be the absolute worst. I have never had a migraine, but have only heard bad things about them!

6) Would you rather eat with a fork or a spoon for the rest of your life?
     - a spoon, that way you still have soup. I would actually prefer a spork!!

7) Would you rather eat a gallon or ketchup or mustard?
     - ketchup... I do not really like mustard.

I am also using my FIRST Link UP!!! I am excited about this!! Please participate!!!
