Is There A Such Thing As Bathroom Etiquette?

So I have a bit of a problem...

I HATE PUBLIC BATHROOMS

I feel a bit better now getting that off my chest... but seriously people I HATE them! I have always had a problem with them for as long as I can remember back to! Where shall I start?

Is there a such thing as bathroom etiquette?

- Porto-potties - CAN NOT DO IT! Nope, I cannot even take step into one. I even had a fancy one at my wedding for the guests and it was super clean and white, apparently it even had flowers and potpourri, I wouldn't know it because I didn't use it!! Even as a child... wouldn't do it!!

- Peeing on the side of the road or in a bush - been there... tried that... note I was very intoxicated and I needed peer support to convince me to... I will not do that again and when I have kids, you will not find me encouraging them to pee on the side of the road, not to mention the fact that I am pretty sure it is illegal!

- Using one of those hole in the wall truck stops - NOPE... I tried, didn't even make it into the stall of that bad boy... once I saw the "reusable towel roll" that was BROWN, I b-lined it out of there!

Thanks to all of these incidents I have a remarkable bladder that can I can hold... don't remind me of this when I am elderly please... I don't mean to brag, after all I know it is not good for you, but what else is a girl to do? I have also been told that if you hold it for too long, it can affect your orgasms....Yes I just said orgasm on my blog... I am not to sure how I feel about that! HA! You can't say my blog is not informative!!

Now let's take a look at an everyday bathroom experience, you know when you are not on the road or at a party or concert... Like work...

I work in an office building and we have a common bathroom for anyone to use. Fine, no problem, my office is not overly busy. In fact, if I see one of the ladies from the other offices walk past my door, I assume it is to use the ladies room and I will wait if I have to go. I just think it is courteous. Because I know I certainly don't like it when people are in the bathroom with me, so if I can help it, I try to avoid it! However, sometimes it happens...

- I cannot pee when there is someone else in the room. It is something about knowing that someone will hear me pee? Is that weird? Am I the only one out there? I mean sometimes if I really HAVE to go, I can, but most of the time I get stage fright!!  Yup, I totally just diagnosed myself with stage fright in the bathroom!

- Does anyone find it weird if someone is singing or humming? I do... I actually find it weird if someone is talking on their cellphone in the public bathroom... I have had both of these things happen and it really makes the stage fright worse!

- Who talks to a stranger in the public bathroom... I am not talking about a BIG public bathroom.. it is small, like 3 stalls, 2 sinks type of deal! Don't get me wrong I will talk to strangers with no problem at all, but the bathroom? Really? Like come on people... you could have just heard me pee... AWKWARD!!!

- I don't like being followed, it creeps me out and this does not happen all that often because I try to monitor the offices around me, but being followed into the bathroom makes me want to hurry up and shut the stall door...

Other things that happen in public bathrooms that bother me...

- No toilet paper.. really... it sucks and it has happened to us all at one point or another. What do you do? I remember one time I had a little kid in the stall beside me.. I waited until they left the stall and luckily they had pulled the toilet paper all the way down so it was almost touching the ground, so I totally grabbed what I could and pulled a large amount off.. ripped the "contaminated by the ground part off" and called it a day! And people wonder why girls are in the bathroom longer than guys...

- I think they should have hand sanitizers in each stall, so not only can you sanitize your hands after touching the handle, but you can sanitize the seat... I hate it when people piss on the seat... disgusting! I mean how hard is it? Or if people let their little kids pee all over the place... GROSS!!

- I also hate it when the garbage is not by the door... I don't want to open the door with my freshly cleaned hands... that's what the paper towel is for after I dry my hands!

- I also don't like it when people don't wash their hands... you just came out of the bathroom, whether you did anything or not, you touched something that someone else did after they did use the bathroom... GROSS!

My list could obviously go on forever...

I am telling ya, this bathroom problem is stressful!! This probably won't be the last post on this topic... just so ya know! I have been holding out on you all this whole time... keeping this big bad secret in, but now it is out there, I feel like I may have shed a layer or something and can keep going on now...

Please tell me I am not the only crazy person out there....

Weee Bit Of Love On Wednesday

{one} how many times have you been a bridesmaid/maid of honor?
I was a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding and I am currently a Maid Of Honor for my best friend who is getting married in August!!

{two} what’s the last thing you do before you fall asleep at night?
M kisses my forehead every night before I fall asleep, but I suppose the last thing I do is cuddle with the cat some nights!

{three} you just won your dream vacation, all expenses paid. where are you going?
This is tough... so I think I would go with a world tour, hitting up Europe, Australia, Africa, Fiji, Switzerland, Germany and definitely the Caribbean!

{four} what is your favorite outdoor activity?
It would have to be spring/Summer/fall for me to be found outdoors, but I love boating, walking, playing baseball, or even just entertaining around a campfire!

{five} as a child, what did you want to “be when you grew up”? did you end up there?
I also said I wanted to be a hair stylist at first, then my passion for animals came out and I wanted to be a vet - but didn't like the thought of putting animals to sleep (I would probably be the most emotional vet out there), then I thought a lawyer would be fun too. What did I end up doing? Well I volunteered with the Humaine Society, took law clerking in school, I cut my own hair and M's sometimes, I groom my own pets and now I am a cardiology tech/medical office assistant all while running and maintaining the office!! So I have almost incorporated all of my childhood "dreams" career-wise!

{six} what are 3 things your dream home would have that you don’t currently have?
Hmmm.. this would have been easier a month ago, but now I actually have to think about it! Before it would have been master closet, main floor laundry for sure. Now I would say: master en suite bathroom with a big soaker tub, a pool and ideally I would love to be on a farm!

{seven} what’s for dinner tonight?
Um that would be undecided, but after thinking about it, I am going to say chicken ceaser salad wraps!!

{eight} if someone stopped by your house unannounced on a typical Saturday night, what would they find you doing?
We would be entertaining probably or not even home. Saturday nights are usually filled with plans!! If we were home by chance we would be laying low, either watching a movie together or watching TV separately on different floors... M and I don't have a lot of TV shows in common!

{nine} what’s your average monthly water bill?
We just started paying for our water and it costs us about $45 flat rate right now! I doubt we even use that much with just the two of us!

{ten} what do you do to relax?
Soak in the hot tub, singing always works, take a nap!

Head on over HERE to play along!!!

On the car side of things: I only ended up having to replace the bolts, luckily I did not have to replace the ball joint or anything else! I cannot even grasp how "lucky" I am that I was not on the highway when this happened or that minimal damage was done or that I didn't end up in an accident or injured at all after this! Someone is watching down on me and if I had to guess who... it would be my Grandpa - he was always worried about car safety!! If you missed what happened, you can check it out HERE.

I get to pick up my car tonight hopefully and then make a FOR SALE ad for it!!

I am loving that we managed to get the office half set up last night!! We still have to build in the sink/pump, but we don't have the sink yet. I know what you are thinking - sink in office? WTF? Well M wanted to keep the laundry sink for the bar (which is connected to the office, and we decided to get a new laundry sink instead of a regular sink so we can still use it to wash big dishes and what not. We plan on making a cover for it and encasing it so it looks less sinkish!! LOL!

I am loving the fact that we do not have a ball game scheduled for tonight because I FEEL LIKE CRAP!!! Thank you allergies... no really THANK YOU.... note the sarcasm...

I am loving this summer weather we are getting!! I think I even have a bit of color back!

That is all I have for today...

Not Your Typical Tuesday...

Yes, I have totally skipped Manic Monday again due to recent events I will disclose in this post!

So I will quickly recap the weekend:

Friday night M had ball and they lost severely!! It was actually painful to watch!!

Saturday morning M had to work. I managed to sleep in until about 9:30 when the first thunderstorm rolled through! By the second thunderstorm, our power was knocked out. When I say knocked out I don't mean for a short while, I mean for like over 12 hours... It was crazy intense! Luckily M made it out of the field he was working in alive with his Dad dodging lighting bolts! M came home from work and worked on things that he could around the house without power! I headed into town and go a hair cut and a manicure! M went over and helped K move a structure, which S and I ended up helping them with and M picked up dinner on his way back home! We had a very quiet night to say the least that involved going for a social walk and then a trip to the farm to watch some TV - yes I know we could not go a full 12 hours with TV - call us pathetic!

Sunday morning our power came back at about 2 AM and then we got our day started around 9. M laid the floor in the office and put up the quarter-round in the closet! I promise pictures soon - when my life gets unhectic! I put the finishing touched on J's shower gift and then headed into town! We ended up playing baseball Sunday night too and we lost BIG TIME!! Opps... oh well! We had fun trying!

So what was J's shower gift? Well M's Mom went in on it with me and we did the Wine Basket of Firsts.. I forgot to take pictures, but we bought 1 bottle of champagne for the "wedding night" 4 bottles of wine for "first fight", "first dinner party", "first Christmas" and "first anniversary". It called for one more bottle of wine for "first baby", but we customized it and put in a bottle of rum, as that bottle is strictly for the groom! There were cute little explanations for each bottle attached! Then I had my Dad engrave 2 wine glasses for them and we filled the basket with wine stoppers, pictures, chocolate, cheese trays, cutting boards and various utensils!

Monday is when things got a little crazy! Monday I started making lasagna for N & K and then decided I better get ready to head to London for my cousin's shower. Luckily I had decided to meet my sister part way and we would carpool. Because this is what happened:

Yes that is right... my wheel fell off thanks to my ball joint that just popped out, while still bolted in! After being told how lucky I was to be alive and that I was not on the highway when it came completely apart. The mechanic said that he has never seen this happen before and that the bolts holding that bar in were still tight... so how did it come out?!

So this is what ended up happening:

Excuse the phone photos!!

So you can imagine what I am going to do now right? Aside from write Chrysler a not so friendly letter, this car is going to be SOLD! I am officially on the market for a new used car! I am not even worried about buying my dream car... just a safe car!! Dodge = Death Trap in my opinion right now!! I don't even know how many times this car has almost killed me - I have lost track!

I am sure you will hear more about this in the future posts as I get the full details of the car and how it happened and how my search is going down!

So I missed the Bachlorette last night, but I hope to get caught up, because as soon as I got home last night, I went right to bed! My allergies are HORRIBLE and I slept like crap! And I am pretty sure it thunderstormed for 2 hours straight and now I have no internet at home...

On another note: please continue to pray for N and K. Their sweet beautiful baby boy was born and went straight to heaven on angels wings. This breaks my heart to no end, I cannot even begin to explain it. No parent should have to go through what they have! I pray that God gives them strength and guidance to get through this! I also pray that I, as well as the people surrounding them are able to give them the support and love they need as well.

Finally Friday

Sorry I missed blogging yesterday, as I have previously mentioned, life is getting super busy over here!! I have taken a look at my calender and it is pretty much jam packed this month with one thing after the other, mostly wedding oriented between the 3 weddings I have coming up July/August!

So here is a break down on what is on the go:

- Saturday - visit with N in the morning
                 - manicure and hair cut
                 - Mike is working and then helping K out.
                 - dinner for my Dad's birthday and Father's Day

- Sunday - J's shower
               - hopefully Mike will get some gardening done or work on the office floor while I am gone

- Monday - Go to London and try on my dress for N's wedding
                - My cousin's bridal shower
                - M has fire practice

- Wednesday - Ball

- Friday - Mike has ball
             - Help N & K out with a buck and doe they are planning for N's brother.

- Saturday - work around the house or head to the lake
- Sunday - work around the house of head to the lake

This is the ONLY FREE weekend!!

More to come on the following weeks! So please excuse my lack of blogging if it happens!

Yesterday I bought over 100 tulip bulbs!! Pretty pumped about this!! I also returned one of the dresses that did not work and picked up another one! The one I just picked up has high hopes!! I am pretty sure it is THE one!! My search is over, now I just need some strappy low sandals and a white clutch! Oh I also need a TAN! I hope to find some time to get one soon! Ha! The dress is strapless and my skin is pasty! I also finished shopping for J's shower!! More details to come on what exactly I am throwing together! I had lunch with M's Mom yesterday, which was delicious!

I would also like for everyone to say a special prayer for friends of ours N & K. I will not go into detail about what has happened, but just know that they will need your prayers at this time!! Life is NOT fair!!

I will leave you all with a prayer and I hope that everyone has a great weekend!!

For those who suffer,
and those who cry this night,
give them repose, Lord;
a pause in their burdens.
Let there be minutes
where they experience peace,
not of man
but of angels.
Love them, Lord,
when others cannot.
Hold them, Lord,
when we fail with human arms.
Hear their prayers
and give them the ability to hear You back
in whatever language they best understand.

Typical Wednesday Post

I am linking up with Jamie again for What I Am Loving Wednesday!!!

First of all I cannot believe it is June already... where did May go? Time seems to be just flying by and I am having trouble keeping up!!

  • It is pretty safe to say that we spent the whole month of May renovating and although we are almost done - we still have the office and finishing touches in all of the rooms left to do, which we will just poke away at.
  • We have missed some beautiful days because of these renovations, so I cannot wait to get outside and down to the lake! Our gardens are pretty trashed with weeds, which hopefully M will get a slow start on soon - I say M because although I am capable of pulling weeds, my allergies could end up hospitalizing me because I am allergic to pretty much everything outside. It is hard to breath on a good day come spring and summer! M jokes about getting me the oxygen tank from the fire hall for me to wear!
  • I am pumped to go to town tomorrow to pick up my newest dress selection and return the latest... lol I am also going to hit up the city's annual tulip bulb sale. My favorite colors were planted this year - pink, purple, yellow and some red. Basically how it works is they pull up the bulbs every year and sell them and use the money they make to buy new ones next year! They sell at 25 bulbs for just $6! What a steal of deal!
  • I am praying that Canada Post does not go on strike because the bridal shower invites are ready to mail out! They are late as it is because I just got the addresses yesterday! I am sure I will dedicate a post to just the bridal shower planning, because I essentially have no clue what I am doing, but I am the MOH and I can handle it! (So if you have any ideas... spill them..)
  • I am ever hopeful that we actually get to play ball tonight!! The weather is beautiful and not too hot (is there a such thing?). All of our games have been stormed out - literally, including our rain-date scheduled game!
  • I am loving the freshly bathed dogs! I gave them outdoor baths last night on the deck and as much as Gracie absolutely loves water, she wasn't too sure of me with garden hose, however if I had hooked a sprinkler up to it, whole different story! Lily was typically difficult/stubborn and hard to maneuver without a collar, but they are both done!
  • I am absolutely loving my new closet!! I know I haven't posted pictures yet, but I will soon! I also love having my dining room table back!
  • I am still loving the smell of lilac bushes, mine are just starting to blossom!!! My iris's have started flowering, as well as my Chinese peony bush!!
  • I am NOT loving JUNE BUGS!!! Or any other type of bug, especially the mosquitoes, but I am really hating June bugs! Last night we had the outside light on and they were pinging off the door, which only made the cats go crazy! I also may or may not have had to call my husband from the road in front of our house on Monday to shut off the lights and let me in the house, in which case I booked it to the front door (which we seldom use) in hopes to not encounter the damn bugs! Those things just creep me right out!
  • I am loving my latest summer drink that I have concocted. It is rather simple to make:
-1/2 a lime squeezed (you can use lime juice concentrate as well)
- about 6 frozen strawberries
- 1/2 a lemon squeezed (you can also use lemon juice concentrate)

throw it all in a magic bullet glass (a blender will do the trick)
add about 1/2 a cup of water and mix it all up until a frozen puree texture is met.
put about 2 to 3 tablespoons of it into a glass, add some Sprite and ice cubes, give it a stir and
VOILA...
 pure deliciousness!!
  • I am also loving PINTEREST... I have found such amazing recipes and hair styles and DIY ideas, etc. You can find me HERE!
Head on over to Jamie's and see what everyone else is loving too!!
