2nd Bath Before and After

This bathroom is "Mike's" like the other one is "Mine". It really wasn't decorated too badly, but once again, I hate the color although it was not green... but a peachy color... blech! Now it is the same color as my old living room!

Excuse myself out of the picture.... this was from before we moved in!

Excuse the crappy pitures, one day I will take new pictures of every room properly! But these will have to do! New paint, new shower curtain, new hardware, new curtains and new bath mat.

Weekend Recap

My weekend was pretty straight forward.

Friday night we went out for dinner with M & J to the pub behind our house and then came back here and played some euchre! Mike ended up getting a medical call at 10:30, luckily when the game was over, and M & J headed home, as they had a few things yet to get done before Saturday. Jazzy was acting funny again, so I decided we should put down the mouse traps again.

Saturday, I managed to sleep in until about 9:30 AM! M had to work, as it had rained here pretty much all week, preventing them from getting into the field they were working in all week. We got our first snow fall overnight as well!! I awoke to a snow-covered yard, which made the dogs pretty pumped. We also ended up catching 2 mice!! YUCK... but glad they are gone! I am keeping the traps down just in case there are more! Have I ever mentioned how much I HATE mice!? I worked on laundry throughout the day. When M got home we worked out in the hobby shop, cleaning and setting things up. Saturday was nice quiet and relaxing as well. I played a bit of Dr. Mario on the Wii with my sister online. I love that game!

Sunday, I slept in until 10:30!!! I was soo impressed that I was able to sleep that long without any interruption. I love hubby sooo much, he must have known how much I have been needing my sleep lately, while trying to beat this cold! He had the dogs outside while he was out in the hobby shop mopping the floors again! Those floors are soo hard to get clean, as they are just painted cement! One day, we will put some type of flooring out there! There will definitely be a no shoes allowed policy in there! M also helped me dye my hair!! I love the new color!! I also got more laundry done and started pulling out some Christmas things.

We have managed to sell all but one of our fish from the aquarium. We decided that we did not have time to maintain the aquarium properly anymore, so we would sell all the fish and put the aquarium away for a while, until we are ready to start it back up. We took the one fish we had left to a fish store, who would rehome him for us. We did some groceries and took the dogs to the dog park in town! There was at least one dog there this week! We weren't completely horrible parents!! lol. Mike then worked on cleaning the aquarium. I made a trial run of my cherry cheesecake pie for Friday night and well let me tell you... it is pretty DAMN good!! mmhmmm!! Sooo easy!

After dinner M and I played Backgammon and Checkers and I won both games!! I was sooo impressed with myself for winning Checkers!! I always lose that game, no matter what and seek advice throughout, which then throws M off his game! His loss, my gain!! I love him sooo much!

I am reminded everyday by how lucky I am to have him in my life, as my husband and best friend! I would be soo lost without him! He is such a genuine guy. I just love him to pieces!!

That was our weekend in a nutshell!! What did you do?

Fill In The Blank Friday!!

1.   Black Friday is: An American event that I would have loved to partake in, but not anymore, as I HATE large crowds!! But the deals are crazy good and Canada is slowly catching on!!

2.  Christmas shopping this year will include: My immediate family, a few friends and my furbabies!! We also play a present game with my aunts/uncles and cousins.
3.  Holiday shopping makes me: A little crazy!! As I mentioned, I hate large crowds! I like to shop throughout the year, but did not this year! Everyone seems soo grumpy and rushed...

4.  This year my Christmas list will include: A vest I found today online at Old Navy, a sewing machine, gift cards to HomeSense/Winners and slippers.
5.  Bargain hunter, or full price shopper?: I am a bargain hunter ALL the way!! This lady barely pays
full price for anything!! (Unless I have to..)

6.  The best and worst things about shopping is: The best thing is knowing I got a good deal and shopping for others. The worst thing is being tired after, peoples bad attitudes... it's Christmas people.. and not shopping for myself!

7.  Online shopper or in-person shopper?: I have started shopping online this year, but all of my Christmas shopping has been done in store so far!
Head on over to Lauren's blog and play along!! Happy Shopping Day!!

Hands

Hands

I have unanswered prayers
I have trouble I wish wasn't there
And I have asked a thousand ways
That You would take my pain away
That You would take my pain away

I am trying to understand
How to walk this weary land
Make straight the paths that crookedly lie
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave Your hands

When You walked upon the Earth
You healed the broken, lost, and hurt
I know You hate to see me cry
One day You will set all things right
Yea, one day You will set all things right

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave Your hands

Your hands
Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still
Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave You when...

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave...
I never leave Your hands

One of my favorite pictures from our wedding by: Blair Gable

This song just really means a lot to me right now!
(This song is 2nd on my playlist at the bottom if you want to hear it as well.)

It is neat to look back into a lot of my pictures and look at how our hands are in them:

Picture of M & I's hands from a fall photo shoot!

Who knew that a touch could say, show and mean soo much! I also noticed that in a lot of the pictures I take (and have) there is usually an emphasize on hands, they way they are holding a child, or the hand of a loved one! The touch of a hand can do soo much, just remember that.

Picture I took at a wedding.

When It Rains It Freezes...

In other words, it is freezing rain outside today...YUCK... which also means that soon it will snow... YUCK...sorta.

Today was an eventful day in the V household!!

Lux had his first check-up and good news.. he is still a BOY!! lol. You never know with young kittens! He is healthy and tooo cute... he weighs a whole 2.2 pounds!!

I also took Lily along, which meant Gracie had to go too... The vet recommended changing Lily's food to a low calorie diet, to see if that helps and explained to me why she might be gaining weight. It turns out that they may have treated her too early for her hypothyroid, but figured that she would need to be on it within 6months, when the disease would be in full effect... (basically 6 months ago they thought.. if she isn't hypothyroid now, then she will be in 6 months because her level was borderline normal). Here we are 6 months down the road, and her disease is likely in full effect! So we are going to try a new food!

I also had a doctors appointment today as well.

Tonight I am heading out shopping with S (Mike's Mom) while Mike is in his marine radio course with his Dad. Hopefully I will manage to buy a few more gifts!

Hopefully my cold will disappear too... I am soo sick of being sick!!  Apparently a virus is going around... take my advice and try your darnedest not to get it!!

Well that is all I have got today... Happy Thanksgiving American friends!! Have a great day with family and friends!!

I wish hubby and I had actually bet something good, because it would have been worth it!! But I will just get bragging rights!! There were definitely some times during the show that I was not sure who was going to win... but TA DA.... (I should never doubt myself!):

I also wanted to take a chance to wish all of my AMERICAN readers/followers a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! And be safe while shopping on Black Friday!! Make sure you blog about all of your great deals!! Jealous!! I could take the day off on Friday and head over the border... but I HATE large crowds, in fact I simply cannot handle them and I would not even know where to start!!

But anywho... Happy Thanksgiving. I am wishing you all a safe and fun holiday!! I know I am doing this early, but a lot of you are travelling and leaving now... so I don't miss those who are leaving soon... Happy Thanksgiving!!

Weekend Recap

Wow, does anyone else find it crazy that this coming weekend is the LAST weekend in November? CRAZY!!! Where has the time gone?

Friday was low-key and was nice and relaxing!

Saturday we got a lot accomplished!! I worked on our closet (that is not in our room, but the room beside us.. we do not have a closet in our Master.) I organized it all by type of shirt (collared shirts, hoodies, long sleeve, t-shirt, dressy t-shirt, tanks, etc.) With our new dressers we are able to put more clothes in drawers than having to use our hanging shelves. Which I can now use upstairs! While I was working away at that, M was outside winterizing our yard. The gardens are all cut back, my mum is planted, grass is cut, leaves are raked, and the patio furniture is back at the shed, just not put in it yet, as my front porch furniture is still at large.. on the front porch! So it is just about complete!! When M finished outside, we decided to change the great room around! Now I am loving the new layout! We have decided to only put up one Christmas tree this year and it will go down in the Rec Room in the basement! We are not hosting any Christmas events, so we don't really need to put up two! Saturday night was the parade in town and M was in it with the Mutual Aid Fire Department. (That is an organization for all of the departments to basically work together.) After the parade we went and grabbed some dinner and hoped to get some Christmas shopping done, however.... everything was closed, except for Wal-Mart. We did not end up getting any Christmas gifts... I know... we suck!! lol

Sunday, Mike went into town to help a friend move a washer and dryer in the morning and we had to be at the farm by 11. M's parents have a "Pie Night" every year around Christmas time. It is delicious!! We make a whole bunch of pies, all sorts of kinds, and  eat!! No need for dinner before you go! My fave is Lemon Meringue! Sue makes the best lemon meringue pie!! LOVE it!! But we were just making the pastry. This year I will be making Cherry Cheesecake Pie!! We have been doing this tradition for 9 years!!! Crazy!! So we made the pastry, enjoyed lunch and then decided to take the dogs for a walk on the farm. M's parents have a 100 acre farm. So we walked to the very back of the property and went into the wooded area and walked an old beaten (and I mean beaten) trail. The dogs loved it!! Usually we will all go back with the quad, but M and I were up for the hike, but otherwise the dogs do not go back there without someone. So walked the perimeter of about 70 acres and got some nasty wind burn. But we had 2 very happy dogs!!

We decided to go back into town later that afternoon and attempt our Christmas shopping again! We came out further ahead this time!! We ended up buying 2 bigger gifts and a few small ones!! We came home, settled into our Sunday evening routine with dinner and Heartland.

After dinner M tacked our desk-top computer. The network card stopped working, so we bought a replacement and I left Hubby to install it. This was a heated moment in the household as M could just not seem to make it work, so I went in and told him a few different things to try and luckily 1 of the 2 things worked! We have the Internet again on the desk-top!!Now we just hafta get the card-readers and DVD drives to work... because they suddenly stopped working too! We enjoyed a nice soak in the hot tub after that.

That was my weekend all summed up!!!

How was your weekend?!

**30 BEFORE 30**

So, I was reading one of the blogs I just started reading and came across a 30 Before 30 List! I thought to myself, what a GREAT idea!! Thanks Gretchen.

I am 26 now, so I have 3 1/2 years to complete this list. Can I do it? I hope so!!

So here it goes:
**30 BEFORE 30**
  1. I would like to have a baby.
  2. I would like to have our loan paid off!! (In which case, we would be debt-free (aside from the mortgage) We would probably get another loan though because of #3.
  3. I would like a pool!
  4. I would like to travel to California. We almost did this year, but are planning a Caribbean trip instead!
  5. I would like to drive out west! No further than Alberta.
  6. I would like to have new floors in my bedroom, great room and kitchen.
  7. I would like a new camera.
  8. I would like to do more photography on the side.
  9. I would like to rescue and rehome an animal or two.
  10. I would like to be more kitchen inclined. I laugh at this now...
  11. I would like to make a quilt.
  12. I would like my husband to have confidence in my cooking. I know I can't REALLY control this, but maybe the more I cook, the more confidence he will gain?
  13. I would like to buy new furniture for the basement. (I am open to moving my new furniture that I have now in my great room down as well and get new for the great room as well.)
  14. I would like to learn how to use Photoshop!!
  15. I would like to have a baby... I know I have this twice, but maybe I will be lucky enough to have 2 by the time I am 30. I want my kids close together!
  16. I would like to reno my bathroom.... new tub, new floors, maybe main floor laundry, double sinks, etc.
  17. I would like to take up reading... I am not a big fan of reading... I actually get quite bored of it, but I feel I would get a lot from it. I maybe read 1 book a year...MAYBE.. that might be stretching it... I would like to read at least 3 I will say. I don't want to overestimate myself!
  18. Take and go on 2 vacations a year!! One summer and one winter. This year I did not get a summer vacation and last year we renovated during it, so I have technically missed out on 2 summer vacations and I miss them!! We cannot stay home for them!!
  19. I would like to throw a BIG party, like an open house style...
  20. I would like to take a photography class.
  21. I would like to have some type of routine, you know meal plans, financial plans, chore plans, week night plans, etc. It might make life easier, but right now our life is too hectic and busy!
  22. I would like to get a newer vehicle to replace our Explorer, there is not much wrong with it, it is just older. I would be open to getting another one, or something similar, hopefully another FORD!
  23. I would like for Lily to get her weight down to at least 90 pounds... this pretty much seems impossible to me right now, as we are struggling with her hypothyroidism and next year it may not be a problem... but it is a problem right now...
  24. Did I mention have a baby? It is really IMPORTANT to me/us. Even if it is only one child by the age of 30, I would feel nonetheless blessed!!
  25. I would like to do something out of the ordinary. I don't know what this means yet, but maybe I will by the time 30 rolls around!
  26. I would like to organize a girls group, to do girls night out get togethers!
  27. I would like to learn how to do make-up! I am horrible at it and never learned how to apply it. I don't actually wear make-up everyday, but when I go out, I would like to feel confident in my make-up.
  28. I would like to have completed 10 sewing projects, so far I have only completed 2.
  29. I would like to get back into scrapbooking.
  30. Last but not least, I would like to have a BIG 30th BIRTHDAY! Whether it be a big party or a trip somewhere, I want to go all out!!
What would you do?

The Low Down on Lily

Well... it was far from good.... I took Lily in to the vet today to get her weighed and to pick up more meds for her hypothyroidism .As previously mentioned, I was sooo nervous to have her weighed. It is not even like I was getting weighed, but she was. I never worry about my own weight, why am I stressing about a number on a scale? for a dog?

Last time she weighed 105 pounds.... which is like 15 pounds over her "ideal". I was devastated then. Actually, I was devastated when they diagnosed her. I was/am soo concerned about my baby! I love this dog tooo much! The thought of knowing she is sick is soo upsetting!

We have been working hard with her and have noticed such drastic improvements in her. She has sooo much more energy, her spirits are up, we have been exercising her, making sure we give her meds on time, etc.

I took her there today and they put her on the scale and she weighed 111 pounds! Thats right, she has GAINED 6 pounds... she was supposed to lose like 6 pounds. I was devastated! Actually, I was in denial and requested for her to be weighed again without her leash. I was in shock. They weighed Gracie and she weighs 75 pounds.

I went to the counter to get her meds and I asked the vet tech how this could be? I explained all that we had been doing and how much improvement we had noticed, hell I thought she had slimmed down a bit....

The lady looks at me and says well you must be over feeding her! I was upset and this is what you say to me? Why don't you slap me in the face again and tell me I am a bad Mom! That is just how I felt, she did not really slap me in the face.... I explained that Lily really doesn't eat all that much. She said that I needed to look at the big picture and take everything into account: treats, table scraps and amount of food, it all adds up. So I told her that our dogs DO NOT get table scraps unless it is a veggie or fruit, and not very often and they maybe get 3 small milk bones a day. She says "well it all adds up and clearly she isn't losing weight". She also told me to measure out their food and manage it. "Oh and remember to feed them the amounts for their ideal weight, NOT their current weight." REALLY?

I was pissed!! I was upset and livid! I just wanted to cry!

Our dogs are on free range food and don't even finish their bowls. We only fill them once a day. Soooo big changes are happening in our house. We are measuring out their food now and monitoring who is eating what! This will be a challenge and the dogs are NOT going to like this, as they eat in the middle of the night! But we are going to give it a try!

I called Mike and told him and he asked me why I was sooo torn up about it. I explained the way I was treated and the way I felt leaving there today. He reassured me that I was not a bad Mom and that we would work it all out!

Everyone in the house is losing weight, except for the one who needs to!  I came home, shed a few tears, ranted to my sister on the phone and went and measured out the food. The dogs looked at me like I was crazy, as I was explaining to them the new changes about to occur in the household!

This is such a battle. I feel a bit hopeless and like I have let Lily down! I just want her to be happy! I know it is hard to lose weight, but we are doing all the right things!

Lord give me strength and please help Lily get healthy!

What a stressful day! I wish I had of stayed in my pj's and not left the house!

Wish us luck on this struggle!

I want her look like this again, well maybe a bit bigger because she isn't even a year in this picture...

Thoughts for Thursday

Well I will admit.... this Thursday is thoughtless.... or boring... or uneventful!!

I am having a SUPER lazy day again today, which is insane because I have soooooo much work to do around the house! At least I got dressed today. (Monday I didn't.) I am even thinking about having a nap again (like Monday) this afternoon! I did not sleep well at all last night, or the night before in fact!

I realize today that my Jazzy cat looks older. She is only 5, but her face looks different to me. I love that cat way tooo much!!

Lux will be 9 weeks tomorrow!!

It is wet snowing out... what is wrong with me, I actually don't mind it. It is kind-of putting me in the Christmas spirit. I don't really want a lot of snow AT ALL, but a few sprinkles here and there are pretty.

I have only bought one Christmas present so far... I am clearly slacking!!

Mmmhmmm I just made one of my famous salsa dips for lunch and was delicious!!

This weekend is Santa Claus parade in the town I grew up in and hubby is in it... in full bunker gear... I will admit he looks pretty hot in it! I will see if I can snag a picture!! Our village parade is coming up soon too!

I have to run up to the vets this aft with Lily. She needs more pills and she is going in for a weigh in! I think I am more nervous about her getting on the scale than I would be! Some days I think she has lost weight and other days I don't. We have been keeping her pretty active, but I am still nervous!! Her coat is doing MUCH better, her energy levels have excelled, she has a great attitude, just back to her old self!! I love that dog WAY too much!

Actually I guess I love them all WAAYY TOO MUCH!! They really make my day everyday!! Today it is just me and my furbabies and tonight it will be just me and my furbabies, as M has a marine radio course for the next 3 Thursdays. I dunno about you, but it sounds SUPER boring to me!!

Well as I said, I am pretty boring today and hopefully I will find some type of motivation today!

Oh yeh and don't forget to check out and pass along my First Give Away!! Please and thanks!! The more the merrier... only 17 entries soo far... I think we can do better?!

Give Away and DWTS Update

Make sure you go and join in on my give away from CSN. Here is the LINK. Good luck!!!

As for DWTS.... I am a WEEE bit upset!!

Ashley’s List                                                        Mike's List

Jennifer and Derek                                           Kyle and Lacey
Kyle and Lacey                                              Jennifer and Derek
Brandy and Maxim                                          Rick and Cheryl
Rick and Cheryl                                             Brandy and Maxim
Audrina and Tony                                          Michael and Chelsie

Michael and Chelsie                                      Florence and Corky
Florence and Corky
Not just for the obvious reasons, I know, I know we are tied... but I should would have had the top three correct at least for the finals.... BUT NOOOOOO Bristol "the freakin' horrible dancing/painful to watch" Pistol beat BRANDY?! I thought it was bad when she beat Rick Fox... but BRANDY...
Don't get me wrong, I get that Bristol has more of a fan base because of her Mom pretty much, but this show is not about her fan base... its about being able to dance. America is supposed to vote for their favorite DANCER, not person. And, yes she has come a LONG way and was better than Kate Gosselin, but she was NOT better than Rick Fox or Brandy!! I am not exactly Brandy's biggest fan, but she was WAAAY better...
Sorry about my melt down... as I mentioned, I am upset... over reality TV... what has my life come to?
But mark my words, if Bristol wins.. I am soo done with this show!! Which will be really hard to do, but I will be DONE!!
Anyone else a WEEE bit upset with last nights show? Who do you think will win the finals?
