Firsts

I've seen this floatin' around blog world and decided to participate.

1. First thing you do when you wake up in the morning
I say good morning to Lux, who is usually right beside me and then I hit up the bathroom.

2. First thing you do you when you get home from work
Change into some comfy clothes, put General Hospital on while considering making dinner, if it is planned - if it is not then M makes dinner. I have no idea what to make for dinner unless we have a meal plan - sad I know.
3. First kiss
This might sound pathetic, but I really don't recall when it was - I was too young and it was "playing a game" in the school yard where the boys chase the girls to kiss them. But I do remember M and I's first kiss! It was after a Santa Claus parade, he dropped me off at home and kissed me, then quickly left afterwards. It may have been a bit awkward, but nonetheless a part of our story.
4. First home
My first home, as in the one I first owned would be the one M and I bought together when I was 20:
We knew we wanted to live in the village, not in the city, but we didn't want to buy something we couldn't afford for our first place and we did NOT want to rent! So we bought this gem! You can see the house tour by clicking The House (Old and New).

5. First car
1995 Dodge Stratus - leather seats and all.

6. First car accident / traffic violation
Knock on wood, but I have never been the driver during an accident, just the passenger, thank goodness! Although I have been in several collisions as the passenger unfortunately. But the first accident I was in was in a parking lot with a friend and a car backed up at a fast speed and hit us.

I think the second time would have been with M, when the horse hit us on the main street while crossing an intersection. That poor sunfire didn't even have a chance, but luckily we were okay.

My first speeding ticket was when I was on my way home from my sisters and I got busted by a new cop - I always get the new ones might I mention and I have never got out of a ticket yet! Each one has told me that they don't want to ticket me and would let me off, but their supervisor is in the car with them. I have only had two tickets - knock on wood once a gain.
7. First thing you wanted to be when you grew up
I wanted to be a vet initially because I loved animals (still do) until I realized that I would have to deal with injured pets and death of animals. Then I wanted to be a hair dresser.
8. First choice beverage
My go to drink would be Canada Dry gingerale, water or apple juice. Alcoholic would be vodka, or any cooler that is vodka based.
9.  First choice dessert
Brownies or cookies.
10. First choice restaurant
We don't exactly have a selection around here at all! I would say I like Swiss Chalet or East Side Mario's. In the states M and I loved TGI Friday's.
11. First song that comes to mind
Vogue by Madonna - because that is what is playing on the radio right now.
12. First major purchase
Well in the summer before high school, before the purchase of my car, would have been my Shih Tzu Snoopy. He was $500. I saved like crazy for him! My parents paid half.

13. First job
Does pet sitting count? If not then my first job would have been a cashier at Sobey's.
14. First time you flew on a plane
I flew to Florida to go to Disney as a child.
15. First real "big girl" job
Medical Assistant at my last employer - that we just don't talk about...
What were your firsts?

Friday Letters

Brrrr, it is getting chillier here in Ontario that is for sure!! I was really hoping for an Indian Summer! Sorry for the lack of blogging yesterday, time escaped me!  But fear not, I am back today with some letters:

Photobucket
Link up with Ashley

Dear Body: I know I did yoga for the first time yesterday, I really thought you love it! It was sooo relaxing, not overly difficult, especially when you compare it to Tuesday nights Zumba, but why on earth do you hurt more after yoga and not after zumba?! I get it... I stretched some parts that obviously feel neglected, but I am sorry! Can you feel better soon!? Granted it is a good feeling to know that something is working, but I get it now!

Dear Hair: We are getting bored with each other! We need to start doing new things! Co-operate and this plan might last longer than 1 day!

Dear Alison: Happy Birthday on Sunday!! I hope you have a fantastic weekend celebrating!!!

Dear Torrent: (Yes I am writing to my car). I really have not enjoyed you failing me this week! I'm hoping you will be back into business tonight because as much as I love driving the truck, I kinda miss you! Turned out to be nothing serious, just a battery and M will have you feeling back to normal hopefully today!!

Dear iPhone: I really appreciate you, just sayin'.

Dear M: I get that your work season is beginning to get really busy, but I need to be eating earlier on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I hate going to Zumba and Yoga and feeling full! So we will need to work something out okay?

Dear BarkBox: Lily and Gracie loved getting their mail yesterday!!! They also loved showing their Dad their new toy and bones!! So happy to have been able to purchase the monthly subscription, knowing that part of it goes to pet shelters and rescues!!

Lily really liked the Pretzel!!

Dear Lux: Please stop sleeping by my feet, I end up sleeping like a retard trying to accommodate you because I don't know any better in my sleep, but when I wake up and see that you are slowly and surely pushing me over have an entire quarter of our kind size bed... its not cool! You are a cat! And you don't need to grunt and groan when I end up soo uncomfortable that I actually wake up and realize it is all because of you and move you! Sneaky little fur friend!!

Happy Friday friends!! Enjoy your weekend!!

Oh My Wednesday...

Soo my Wednesday did not start out as planned... but let's start with how the rest of Tuesday turned out...

Big thanks to everyone's sweet comments yesterday!
The cookies, they happened, the cookie dough was perfect:
It tasted just as I remembered!!

The first batch had some black bottoms... but still enjoyable, but the second batch was just perfect!!

Last night I did Zumba again, found the steps much easier! I think I might try her Yoga class on Thursday! I have never done yoga, aside from the Wii Fit!

Did anyone watch Parenthood last night... Oh my! Aside from the puppy search, I am actually feeling a bit scared for Kristina!

Now on to today's bad start... literally, my car - it wouldn't start!! This is the 2nd time this week! Luckily K was home and came right over to give me a lift over to the farm to get M's truck! To say I was frustrated... would be an understatement! Needless to say, that will need to be fixed! Not sure which one I hope it to be.. the starter or the alternator because I am pretty sure it is not the battery! My day can only get better right?!

Tonight we have our last ball game!! Except, a lot of our team is missing tonight, but we will do our best with what we have!

Said Goodbye and Waiting to Say Hello!!!

Said goodbye to my car yesterday officially!!! Everything went through!!! The car is gone!!!

I may have broke out into a song...

I also may have felt like this commercial as soon as I got the cheque:

So I am car-less, stuck driving M's Explorer - which hates me... did I mention that thing hates me?

So knowing how unpractical driving around the Explorer is.. I knew we would need to find a new car soon!!

I found the PERFECT one!!! Set up an appointment to go see it Wednesday night, called Wednesday afternoon and the person on the phone said it was sold - gone - not available... Did I mention it was a great deal? I mean FANTASTIC deal? No? Well it was!! I was upset - without even seeing it in person, it was perfect... Okay I will admit I was PISSED. So back to the drawing board... we were trying to find a vehicle that would be around the same price as what we sold ours for and I was having no luck!! That car was IT!!

So M called the dealership and asked to speak to our salesman and sure enough...

HE PUT IT ASIDE FOR US & MARKED IT SOLD!!!!

We went and checked it out, drove it, FELL HEAD OVER HEELS!!! Okay I did, but but M really liked it too.... all he could keep saying was that "It's not a truck..." However, practical Mike realized that a truck is not a necessity at this time...

WE BOUGHT A PONTIAC TORRENT!!!! Wanna see a pic or two?!

(these are the dealers pictures - obviously they are NOT photographers - not that I am, but I will take some better ones when I get it)

She is fully loaded: Leather heated power seats, sunroof, LOADS of room, cruise control, roof rack, etc...

IN LOVE!!!

The color is still to be determined.. it is like a black cherry/purple metallic - every time we look at the car it seems a different color!!

M and I are pretty pumped!! It is a dream come true - selling the caliber and buying a new one... I hope our dreams continue to come true!!!

We get to pick it up TOMORROW morning!!!

It's Almost Time....

It is almost time to say goodbye to:

Kijiji: 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT Hatchback

I have potentially sold the car!!! It will be leaving tomorrow!!

So we will be down to one vehicle for a little while, until we find our new one!! So instead of blogging properly today I am scrolling autotrader and kijiji!!

Random Rumblings

Is anyone watching "Love In The Wild"?  - I am not sure how I feel about it. Some of the girls drive me batty!! Basically the idea of the show is to go on jungle adventures with a partner and if you win you go to the fantasy suite and cannot be eliminated, but if you don't, you have the option to switch partners or stay with yours and the last 2 people not picked go home. It is kind of like a mix of big brother/bachelor/amazing race.

I did the big update on my blackberry FINALLY to the new operating system. I will be honest it took me a while to catch on, but now I like it!!

M and I spent the afternoon together yesterday, we finished cleaning out my car and then popped down to the local car sales place. We inquired about trading it in, except we didn't see anything we liked that was a available. They had a Chevy Equinox, but M is all big on FORD, which I will be honest, I am too, but the Ford Escapes just seem too small. So I convinced him to just look at it, just so we can compare and he was impressed. We were both soo surprised with the amount of room in them. So then we popped into town to see what was available there and left our names with the one dealership and we are just waiting to hear back. The Equinox in the village was on hold, so we will hear back hopefully today on what is happening with that. We are looking at doing a straight trade, since we weren't exactly planning on selling my car yet, but due to all the problems with have recently had, I just don't feel safe driving it!

After car shopping, we went for dinner at the restaurant and then took the dogs down to the ball park. There was a ladies ball tournament happening and there just so happened to be a lot of goldens at the park!! Lily and Gracie were in dog heaven!! We watched some ball and then took them for a run. They had been such good girls all day, as we left them free range in the house when we went out and they behaved!!

I am looking forward to the weekend!! It should be filled with excellent weather!!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Weee Bit Of Love On Wednesday

{one} how many times have you been a bridesmaid/maid of honor?
I was a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding and I am currently a Maid Of Honor for my best friend who is getting married in August!!

{two} what’s the last thing you do before you fall asleep at night?
M kisses my forehead every night before I fall asleep, but I suppose the last thing I do is cuddle with the cat some nights!

{three} you just won your dream vacation, all expenses paid. where are you going?
This is tough... so I think I would go with a world tour, hitting up Europe, Australia, Africa, Fiji, Switzerland, Germany and definitely the Caribbean!

{four} what is your favorite outdoor activity?
It would have to be spring/Summer/fall for me to be found outdoors, but I love boating, walking, playing baseball, or even just entertaining around a campfire!

{five} as a child, what did you want to “be when you grew up”? did you end up there?
I also said I wanted to be a hair stylist at first, then my passion for animals came out and I wanted to be a vet - but didn't like the thought of putting animals to sleep (I would probably be the most emotional vet out there), then I thought a lawyer would be fun too. What did I end up doing? Well I volunteered with the Humaine Society, took law clerking in school, I cut my own hair and M's sometimes, I groom my own pets and now I am a cardiology tech/medical office assistant all while running and maintaining the office!! So I have almost incorporated all of my childhood "dreams" career-wise!

{six} what are 3 things your dream home would have that you don’t currently have?
Hmmm.. this would have been easier a month ago, but now I actually have to think about it! Before it would have been master closet, main floor laundry for sure. Now I would say: master en suite bathroom with a big soaker tub, a pool and ideally I would love to be on a farm!

{seven} what’s for dinner tonight?
Um that would be undecided, but after thinking about it, I am going to say chicken ceaser salad wraps!!

{eight} if someone stopped by your house unannounced on a typical Saturday night, what would they find you doing?
We would be entertaining probably or not even home. Saturday nights are usually filled with plans!! If we were home by chance we would be laying low, either watching a movie together or watching TV separately on different floors... M and I don't have a lot of TV shows in common!

{nine} what’s your average monthly water bill?
We just started paying for our water and it costs us about $45 flat rate right now! I doubt we even use that much with just the two of us!

{ten} what do you do to relax?
Soak in the hot tub, singing always works, take a nap!

Head on over HERE to play along!!!

On the car side of things: I only ended up having to replace the bolts, luckily I did not have to replace the ball joint or anything else! I cannot even grasp how "lucky" I am that I was not on the highway when this happened or that minimal damage was done or that I didn't end up in an accident or injured at all after this! Someone is watching down on me and if I had to guess who... it would be my Grandpa - he was always worried about car safety!! If you missed what happened, you can check it out HERE.

I get to pick up my car tonight hopefully and then make a FOR SALE ad for it!!

I am loving that we managed to get the office half set up last night!! We still have to build in the sink/pump, but we don't have the sink yet. I know what you are thinking - sink in office? WTF? Well M wanted to keep the laundry sink for the bar (which is connected to the office, and we decided to get a new laundry sink instead of a regular sink so we can still use it to wash big dishes and what not. We plan on making a cover for it and encasing it so it looks less sinkish!! LOL!

I am loving the fact that we do not have a ball game scheduled for tonight because I FEEL LIKE CRAP!!! Thank you allergies... no really THANK YOU.... note the sarcasm...

I am loving this summer weather we are getting!! I think I even have a bit of color back!

That is all I have for today...

Not Your Typical Tuesday...

Yes, I have totally skipped Manic Monday again due to recent events I will disclose in this post!

So I will quickly recap the weekend:

Friday night M had ball and they lost severely!! It was actually painful to watch!!

Saturday morning M had to work. I managed to sleep in until about 9:30 when the first thunderstorm rolled through! By the second thunderstorm, our power was knocked out. When I say knocked out I don't mean for a short while, I mean for like over 12 hours... It was crazy intense! Luckily M made it out of the field he was working in alive with his Dad dodging lighting bolts! M came home from work and worked on things that he could around the house without power! I headed into town and go a hair cut and a manicure! M went over and helped K move a structure, which S and I ended up helping them with and M picked up dinner on his way back home! We had a very quiet night to say the least that involved going for a social walk and then a trip to the farm to watch some TV - yes I know we could not go a full 12 hours with TV - call us pathetic!

Sunday morning our power came back at about 2 AM and then we got our day started around 9. M laid the floor in the office and put up the quarter-round in the closet! I promise pictures soon - when my life gets unhectic! I put the finishing touched on J's shower gift and then headed into town! We ended up playing baseball Sunday night too and we lost BIG TIME!! Opps... oh well! We had fun trying!

So what was J's shower gift? Well M's Mom went in on it with me and we did the Wine Basket of Firsts.. I forgot to take pictures, but we bought 1 bottle of champagne for the "wedding night" 4 bottles of wine for "first fight", "first dinner party", "first Christmas" and "first anniversary". It called for one more bottle of wine for "first baby", but we customized it and put in a bottle of rum, as that bottle is strictly for the groom! There were cute little explanations for each bottle attached! Then I had my Dad engrave 2 wine glasses for them and we filled the basket with wine stoppers, pictures, chocolate, cheese trays, cutting boards and various utensils!

Monday is when things got a little crazy! Monday I started making lasagna for N & K and then decided I better get ready to head to London for my cousin's shower. Luckily I had decided to meet my sister part way and we would carpool. Because this is what happened:

Yes that is right... my wheel fell off thanks to my ball joint that just popped out, while still bolted in! After being told how lucky I was to be alive and that I was not on the highway when it came completely apart. The mechanic said that he has never seen this happen before and that the bolts holding that bar in were still tight... so how did it come out?!

So this is what ended up happening:

Excuse the phone photos!!

So you can imagine what I am going to do now right? Aside from write Chrysler a not so friendly letter, this car is going to be SOLD! I am officially on the market for a new used car! I am not even worried about buying my dream car... just a safe car!! Dodge = Death Trap in my opinion right now!! I don't even know how many times this car has almost killed me - I have lost track!

I am sure you will hear more about this in the future posts as I get the full details of the car and how it happened and how my search is going down!

So I missed the Bachlorette last night, but I hope to get caught up, because as soon as I got home last night, I went right to bed! My allergies are HORRIBLE and I slept like crap! And I am pretty sure it thunderstormed for 2 hours straight and now I have no internet at home...

On another note: please continue to pray for N and K. Their sweet beautiful baby boy was born and went straight to heaven on angels wings. This breaks my heart to no end, I cannot even begin to explain it. No parent should have to go through what they have! I pray that God gives them strength and guidance to get through this! I also pray that I, as well as the people surrounding them are able to give them the support and love they need as well.
