Choose To Be Happy

I think at some point in all of our lives we have situations that come up that aren't exactly what we planned. It can be job related, marriage related, health related, family related, friendship related, you name it - they all happen at one point or another! You do what YOU can do to try to make it better, but let's face it, it's out of your control.

Sometimes it is just easier to allow a bad circumstance to control us. Let it eat us inside, worry like crazy about it, lash out at those we love, you get it. In the long run, by allowing these things to bring us down, it is controlling us, our feelings, our thoughts and our actions, whether we realize it or not.

 

I'm not an expert by any means on what one should do when these issues arise, but I can tell you what works for me. Do I worry, heck yes, how do you not? But does it change anything for the better? No, most often for the worse, because who worries about the best case scenarios? It just beats you up more, however, I am not about to say that I don't worry. I do what I can do to make the situation better, I prefer to suffer in silence for the most part, because I for some reason think it is easier. I talk to those closest to me because I trust them, their discretion and their opinions. It works for me.

At the end of the day and for the most part the beginning of my day, I choose to be happy, I choose to get out bed everyday, I choose to count my blessings and not let whatever is trying to bring me down work.

Life is going to continue to be full of hurdles through every stage of our life, we can choose to jump over them and learn from them, or allow them to hold us back and beat us down. I'm not one to give up, as easy as it seems some days, I am just not willing to. Choose to keep fighting, choose to keep HOPE and choose to be HAPPY no matter what.

Marathon Shopping

I survived my first weekend away from my hubby, as well as my first 20 kilometer shopping weekend!! Hard to believe we covered 20 km in walking while shopping, but I definitely feel it!!

Before I left, I made M his favorite cookies, along with a sweet little note, however, I ran out of time leaving and didn't get a picture! I couldn't find my passport, M had in a place I would have never guessed! Then to top it all off, I forgot my socks and had to hand wash mine in the sink with shampoo/conditioner. Yup...

My weekend was great!! We left home around 5:30 and were in Buffalo by 7:30. We hit a few delays with traffic and a wait at the border. We hit a few places Friday night with some coupons! Like Joann's where I bought:

 

And then Kohl's where I bought the sweater. The shorts and chevron nightgown were from TJ Maxx on Saturday.

 

 

It was pretty rough going to sleep by myself!! I won't even lie about it!

 

 

I slept like crap, tossed and turned all night. Woke up to my bed looking like this:

 

 

Saturday we went to Hobby Lobby, where I bought:

 

 

And Target:

 

 

I just couldn't leave this in the store!! I think it will bring spring to the bedroom and chevron of course!!

 

I found these chevron blankets at Burlington Coat Factory:

 

 

We stocked up on hats and mitts as well!!

 

We had lunch at Chili's. It was great! Canada needs one, just sayin'!!

 

 

 

I also got this basket for the counter to put our mail in!!

 

 

 

We ate at The Cheesecake Factory for dinner!! It was great!!

 

I had an appetizer size ceaser salad and it was huge, I couldn't even finish it and I didn't react at all to the salad dressing!! Amy and I split a piece of chocolate cake to go. We were to full!!

 

Sunday we hit up the outlet malls

I got these skirts from Rue 21

 

The black and white one is a high/low skirt and the coral and black chevron is a maxi skirt!

 

I bought M 3 hats, and a few shirts as well, but I don't know where he put the hats.

 

Oh and I bought socks, but not until Sunday because I only like one brand of socks (Puma) and couldn't find the right ones anywhere. I finally broke down and tried them on and bought a bunch!

 

I got a lot of great deals and didn't really spend a lot! I only paid full price for the duvet cover, but I LOVED it and it was $40! I am a clearance/sale rack shopper.

 

The weather was amazing this weekend!! +18!!! Yes please!!

 

 Last night when I got home M and I watched Heartland... um season finale... ended like that? What?Not impressed!! Jack better be okay!! We enjoyed a soak in the hot tub and then I watched Kim and Courtney Take On Miami finale as well. I am watching the AMA's right now.

1. Our counter top are in... as in the garage... we haven't quite figured out when we will install them because M is at a firefighting course this weekend and next, but we may do it throughout the week! We don't really know how hard/easy it is, but we are excited be rid of the ghetto counters!!

 

2. I off to Buffalo, NY this weekend with my sister!! Can't wait to get my shopping on!! TJ Maxx, Target, Old Navy, Macy's, Hobby Lobby, Joanne's, Burlington Coat Factory, Kohls, outlet malls and many many more here we come!!! And I cannot wait to dine at The Cheese Cake Factory... I have only heard how good it is!

 

3. Spring just might be slowing arriving! We have finally found above zero temps!!

 

A few things that kind of suck:

 

- putting Vicks on your nose right before bed and then forgetting which hand you used to apply it. rubbing your eye is not recommended!!... note to self it STINGS!!

 

- This is the first time since the night before our wedding that M and I will have been apart overnight before!! That is 5 years, 8 months and 16 days. 2086 days!!! Crazy eh? If I am being honest I am a little sad about it!!

Press And Seal on your fridge shelves.

 

After tackling a project on my spring cleaning list, I decided I would make life easier on myself and apply the press and seal on the shelves after washing them.

 

I will be honest, it was a pain in the butt to to and didn't stick perfectly, but I have kept them in. I notice the corners are peeling up, but either way it should help with keeping the shelves a bit cleaner!

Random Wednesday

 

- I am excited for the weekend!! Hitting up the New York State... Buffalo to be exact for a girl's shopping weekend!! My sister and I are going to hit up some of our favorite shops and eat at restaurants we don't have here and we are going to love it all! I couldn't have planned it better because M will be at fire training all weekend!

 

- We went through my sister's closet yesterday, it was well over due to say the least! 200+ items given away later. She did great!! It was great to hang out with the kids too, although B wasn't feeling so hot, but it just meant extra snuggles for Aunt Ashie.
 

 

- I managed to snag a 4 pairs of jeans that actually fit me from my sister! After losing all the weight so far, I had no jeans that fit! They were all too big! It's a good problem to have I suppose, but I really didn't want to have to by more jeans, as I plan to continue to lose.

 

- I just love The Voice! I really wasn't sure how I would like Shakira and I knew I would love Usher, but they both just really add to the show!! The talent is insane!!

 

- Mike had his ball meeting last night and it turns out they can play this year, after last year's debacle. Looking forward to Friday night baseball games again with friends!

 

- Mother Nature must not have changed her calender yet - it's still snowing... luckily it's not sticking, but nonetheless still snowing!! It is April!

 

- Heading over to the farm to have lunch with the fam today!
