Weekend Rewind

This weekend was jam packed with soo much family fun and spent making memories!!

Friday night I was supposed to have the babysitter come again, however it ended up storming out, so M's game was cancelled out! We were considering going out for drinks for M's birthday, but knowing how busy our weekend was going to be, we decided to stay home!! I might end up leaving Noah with the sitter yet right?? This is the 2nd time this has happened!!

Noah had us laughing so hard - when it thundered out, he was quick to tell us in his take caution voice that "the dinosaurs are comin". Soo funny!!

Saturday morning was a super early start in this house! Thanks to a thunderstorm rolling through at 5AM... M was with Emilya and I went up to Noah. He doesn't usually wake up to storms, but he is such a light sleeper in the mornings, we weren't surprised. So I laid in bed with him for a while until the storm passed, however M ended up needing to go up again and got him to fall back asleep. He thinks it is play time when I try to put him back to sleep, but apparently Daddy means business... I can at least put him go bed for naps and bedtime!!

The crummy weather at home didn't hold us back from heading to the lake for the day! And you know what, we had perfect weather all day. Our car rides getting there were disasterous - thank you Emilya, but we had a great day out on the water. When we got back to the dock rain started and it thundered during dinner, but we had a fantastic day!

The fun didn't stop on Saturday though, we had a fun day planned for Sunday!! We decided to hit up  African Lion Safari!! Although it was pricey, it was soo much fun!!

We decided to drive through the safari in our truck instead of taking the bus, which was awesome!! The animals were all pretty active, as it wasn't too hot out! We got up close with the male lion, who came right up to the truck window! The giraffe walked right in front of the truck, which Noah was the most excited for!! He's had giraffes on the brain for weeks!! He thought the monkeys were pretty funny, didn't want them on our truck! The ostrich was pecking at the window and he didn't love that, but over all he really enjoyed the experience!!

He saw a stuffed giraffe on our way into lunch and wanted it, but we managed to get by without it! We had a good lunch and then hit up the splash pad!! What an amazing splash pad!! It was huge and Noah was just tall enough to be able to do all the slides!! And that he did, over and over "again Mommy?" He had a few mishaps ending up head first, and right after I ended up catching him, a big bucket of water dumped on us, soaking my dress... I did have my swimsuit on under, but man was I wet!! So M was on Emilya duty and I was on Noah duty! Luckily the water was warm! We played there for over an hour until Noah was starting to get physically tired - not that he would admit it! He didn't want to leave, however a certain Daddy promised him a giraffe if he did!! So we went to pick out a giraffe and Emilya got a sloth!! I was hoping to get her the flamingo, but she cried when I showed it to her! I showed her the sloth and she had instant smiles and giggles!!

M and I were soo proud of Noah for how good he was! He listened like a champ, heck he even held our hands and walked instead of ran. He was a perfect 2 year old!!

You bet he fell asleep on the way home with Henry... Yes, that is the giraffes name!! And he is no small giraffe.

We managed to convince him to continue his nap when we got home and he slept for 2 hours! We had to wake him for dinner, since we had to eat a bit earlier because M had a ball game!

He was pretty good at the ball game too!!  However we knew it was bath and bedtime by the time we got home!! Both kids went to bed really well!!

Today we are having a quiet day at home! And tonight this Mama is getting a much needed hair cut and highlights!

We have a busy week ahead of us!!

Thursday Things

Man oh man she is a hot one out there today, actually all week, but this morning the humidity is at an all time high.

So here are some random musings from the week so far!!

I'm tying to get caught up on this old blog of mine. I have so many drafts of posts waiting for pictures to be added!

I signed up Noah for gymnastics for September!! This will be his first recreational activity and I am pretty sure he is going to love it!! I will say it crazy to me to have a child old enough to do this with!! I feel like makes him officially not a baby anymore, and although he definitely doesn't look like a baby anymore, in my head I guess he always will be. He is actually old enough to participate in these kind of things and I know this is just the start!! Mike and I are pretty excited as well!

I went shopping for M's birthday, in search for a Jays jersey he wants, which doesn't exist, so I was going to get just a plain Jays jersey and get it customized. Well do you think you can find plain Jays jerseys right now? No!! So then I thought ok, I will get him a hat! They didn't have his size either! But I did manage to find myself one, so the trip wasn't completely wasted!!

I also stopped to grab a new fridge filter, you know the things you are supposed to replace every 6 months... And our fridge is 2.5 years old, and this is the first time I replaced it! Oops. The only reason I replaced it was because ever since M put cucumbers in vinegar in the fridge without a lid, everything has tasted like vinegar, including the ice and water and we couldn't get it to go away!! I hate cucumbers, so cucumber water - as refreshing as people say it is, it is gross!! Problem is solved!!

And while enjoying an hour out, I also stopped at Carters to check out a sale! I LOVE that store, although I haven't figured out the new layout yet! I bought Noah lots of shorts for next year, and some tshirts for gymnastics and Em got some sleepers on clearance.

Emilya's baptism is booked for the end of September as well! I am just crossing things off the list!! Heck, even my thank you cards and birth announcements are almost all out now too! I'm trying tally using the postal strike threat in my favor for the tardiness on this one!

Emilya had her shots this week. Her check up went well, however when giving her the second needle, the needle broke where the needle tip attaches to the syringe. Emilya was NOT happy at all! But before leaving the office I got her to fall asleep and she slept for 2.5 hours! Oh and we made it all the way into town and to the doctors without any tears - first time ever!! She did spit up when we arrived, but it was manageable!! So overall she had a great trip in the car for the FIRST time! I'm not holding out hope on it continuing because that would just be disappointing when it fails! Emilya handled her shots very well though and wasn't super grumpy later in the day like last time!

Yesterday was a rough day. Noah's 3rd molar is causing a super irritable toddler and he happened to lose his listening ears and was overtired! Tonight's goal is to put him to bed on time tonight!

Last night we had M's birthday dinner, so he stayed up late playing! But we are off to a much better start today! Today is also the day we are going to start sleep training Emilya... I'm dreading it,  but it's something that has to be done, because I don't have the time to rock her to sleep these days and watch a toddler. So I am going to start laying her down.... I need to read into the plan more that is for sure. But I'm thinking rock for 5 minutes and then lay her down. Repeat after giving her the chance to work it out on her own for a bit first. Does that make sense?

Calling 911

Let's put this out there, I've only called 911 a few times in my life. Like 3 times to be exact and I can recall each time!

The first time was when I was kid playing at my Grandma's. My sister and I were playing cops and robbers with an old phone in my Grandmas basement and well, we ended up calling 911 by accident. They called back, since we hung up quickly and made sure all was well and then we had a serious sit down with my Grandma about when to call 911.

The next time was about 5 years ago, when a young girl was literally stuck in the baby swing and it was cutting off circulation to her legs. The lesson I learned that time was to disconnect Bluetooth from your car, so you can actually hold the call instead of your car device taking over! The girl was fine, the fire department came, cut her down and then out.

And then there was a few weeks ago when I called 911 again and although everything ended up okay, it still freaks me out to this day!

Around midnight on a Friday night I heard this loud banging at the front door and it sounded like someone trying to come in. I was in bed by myself, so I got up to ask Mike what he was doing. Mike was in the shower wondered what I was doing. I looked out the windows and didn't see anything, but it definitely sounded like someone was trying to break in and M agreed. So I checked all the other doors and on my way back to bed I got a glimpse of someone on the front porch. You can imagine the goosebumps grew quickly. I snuck back into the bathroom and told Mike. Mike wanted me to get the phone incase we needed to call 911. We checked back and sure enough this person was lying on our couch on the front porch and it wasn't anyone we recognized. So we called 911. We didn't know what was going on, all we knew was that someone tried to get in our house and someone was passed out on porch. It wasn't something that either one of us was willing to investigate on our own.

It seemed like it took forever for the police to show up and I wasn't a fan of dispatch calling to update us on the timing since the kids were sleeping. But all was well, 3 police cars finally showed up with thier spotlight on our house.

We stayed inside until they apprehended the man, who was very intoxicated. It turned out to be a guy from the city, and he had no clue what he had done or where he was.

They charged him with public intoxication and took him away.

So now needless to say, looking outside at night creeps me out and I get up every morning at 3 to pump. With all the wrong going on in the world right now, you just never know with people.

Life is never boring around these parts, but I am happy it wasn't anything serious!

Weekend Rewind

This past weekend was a little more low key, which was just what we needed!

Friday night M's game ended up cancelled, so it was nice to have him home to help get the kids in bed! We started moving Emilya's bedtime up by an hour or so.

Friday morning I tackle the job of organizing Emilya's clothes and I have decided that now I have to redo it and change my system. I was originally just sitting by size and putting them in a bin as they fit, but then when I buy or get hand me downs in bigger sizes, I have to go through those bins again, so now every size will have its own bin or box. Maybe that will be this weeks goal!

Saturday morning I hit up the street sales in town and then did a little grocery shopping and baby girl made out like a bandit! Look at her haul:

Noah was having a rough day and testing us to all sorts of limits! We just did yard work and house work mainly, let him have a bounce before bed to wear out any energy left over.

Saturday night I went for my first run post baby and it was slow, but a start! I ran about half way! But I do like my new runners!!

Sunday we discovered his top molar is bugging him, as he was still super irritable. So after giving him some medicine, he was much more tolerable!

Sunday afternoon M had 2 ball games this make up and imagine this - they won!! I took the kids down after thier nap and time just crawled by. They were both good, but by the end of the game Noah was getting hungry and hungry kids don't make the best kids. Well no wonder he was hungry.. It was 6:30!! Grilled cheese for supper it was! After supper we had some quiet play time and then it was time to get the kids in bed!

Luckily this week is a little slower for us, although Emma has her shots tomorrow, so it likely won't be a peaceful week if it's anything like last time!

Friday's Five

And just like that, the first week of August is gone!

Oh and just like that, my baby is 4 months old!!! What??!! M and I can hardly believe it!!

We had a super fun week!

Monday we were at the zoo, as I mentioned in the weekend recap.

Tuesday we did Storybook Gardens with all the cousins. It was a lot different than I remember as a young child, but very nostalgic. I bet my Grandma was watching down from heaven with a smile on her face watching us all with our kiddos, just like she used to take us!

It was also my first bigger outing with the kids on my own, well without M, I was soo happy to have the help of my cousins. Noah was really good until it became time to leave and he had exhausted his patience waiting for everyone else. He was also asleep by the time I made it to the main road. I will let the pics do some talking!!

After naptime, we decided to go visit Daddy at work since they were close to home!

As you can see, she was quite interested!!

My crew of hot messes...

Wednesday we had a much needed quiet day at home!!

With a short trip to the park:

I was also happy to find my new work out program arrived!! I will be starting Country Heat soon!!

We ended up keeping the kids up late after we took them out to the flying club with a trailer full of our donations of furniture and stuff for their yard sale! We didn't come home empty handed though! We bought an outside garbage can, a window fan (brand new), a little people house, and some storage organization drawers that fit in my cubbys in my sewing area!

Thursday morning we had a songs and dance program to attend at the library! Both kids had a blast!! This little lady made her way all the way to the dog bed while I was putting Noah down! She can inch her way around the whole room and she's quite proud!!

We also did some swimming!

This weekend we don't have much planned!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
