I would like to take a minute or two and ask for everyone's prayers for the family, friends and communities of 2 volunteer firefighters who have lost their lives while on duty on Thursday!
Raymond Walter (30 years old) and Kenneth Rea (56 years old) lost their lives when a roof collapsed on them while they were in the burning building.
This hits home because as most of you know M is a volunteer firefighter and there is always the risk on a call. I will be hugging my own hero a little tighter. It is one of my biggest silent fears that I have, so I couldn't even imagine being the family of these brave heroes. May God give them the strength to get through this tough time and provide hope, courage and support to carry on without their hero.
You can read more about it here.
So I will leave you with the fire fighter's prayer, one that is well known in this household!!
Fire Fighter's Prayer
When I'm called to duty god
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age
Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife

I'm a fairly new follower, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for them. That sounds so tragic and I can't imagine the heartache that must've caused!
So sad! I try not to think about that kind of thing being able to happen when Josh is at work. So scary!
